Goal setting is fine if you want to be the warrior archetype. these people are setting goals constantly and trying to get someplace else. they say, "if you don't know where you are going, then you won't know when you get there." when you get to a higher level of consciousness, though, when you get into a spiritual approach to life, you are not trying to get someplace else, because you never can get it done. you never are going to get there. instead, what you want to do is get to a place where you are at peace. you are connected to god.

Things come up from the outside, the outside world says, okay, you have do this, you have to go here and here and here, and these are your options. you can be here or you can be here. you can do this, or you can do this. you can go here, or you can go there. so each one of those things becomes a place of decision, and the way we make decisions is that we all get together and if somebody doesn't feel right about it or it doesn't seem to sit right, usually we'll go with the no vote. if somebody's not comfortable with it, we'll figure it's not going to be worth doing.

I remind myself that the universe is 15 billion years old, and i'm only 46 years old, so my perspective is sort of limited and fear-based and skewed. so i sort of turn things over to whatever you want to call it - whether it's god, or the universe or the spirit of the universe - and i just sort of turn things over to god and hope that this spirit that has been around for 15 billion years will have a better understanding of how things should be than i do.

I want to be successful and i want people to hear the music and i want to make money at it, but if it isn't what you do, eventually it seems like that will cause you to not be able to do what you do. if you did that for a couple years, you would just become someone else, which is fine, i guess...but i don't want to become someone else. i want to do what i enjoy and what feels right.
