Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength of the nation.

And then the spirit brings hope, hope in the strictest christian sense, hope which is hoping against hope. for an immediate hope exists in every person; it may be more powerfully alive in one person than in another; but in death every hope of this kind dies and turns into hopelessness. into this night of hopelessness (it is death that we are describing) comes the life-giving spirit and brings hope, the hope of eternity. it is against hope, for there was no longer any hope for that merely natural hope; this hope is therefore a hope contrary to hope.

America can't work for only some people and become a dream for all people. it has to work for everyone. and even though everyone might not end up at the same place, if everyone starts with the same beginning, then that's the dream fulfilled. we all don't have the same abilities, but we should have the same opportunities.

Human love, human trust, are always perilous, because they break down. the greater the love, the greater the trust, and the greater the peril, the greater the disaster. because to place absolute trust on another human being is in itself a disaster, both ways, since each human being is a ship that must sail its own course, even if it go in company with another ship.... and yet, love is the greatest thing between human beings.

Unless they can pass the same test that immigrants must pass to become citizens, people shouldnt be allowed to vote. the idea that there is some public benefit in ignoramuses and morons pulling levers next to names on a ballot is one of the evil myths of post-modern america. the purpose of voting, in our country, is to select men and women with the competence and integrity to operate the mechanics of government fixed by our constitution. for this process to have any public benefit requires that the choices be made on an intelligent, knowledgeable and reasoned basis.

There should be a class on drugs. there should be a class on sex education-a real sex education class-not just pictures and diaphragms and 'un-logical' terms and things like that.....there should be a class on scams, there should be a class on religious cults, there should be a class on police brutality, there should be a class on apartheid, there should be a class on racism in america, there should be a class on why people are hungry, but there are not, there are classes on gym, physical education, let's learn volleyball.
