If gay marriage is a real thing, gay infertility must be a real thing. it's not fair. i mean, it wasn't fair they couldn't get married, and now it's not fair that they can't have babies, even though they're not infertile, that doesn't matter. and so there must be access to infertility insurance for married gay couples, if our culture and if our society is to be fair and equal for one and all, and it is coming, and don't laugh about it.

Most directors, i discovered, need to be convinced that the screenplay they're going to direct has something to do with them. and this is a tricky thing if you write screenplays where women have parts that are equal to or greater than the male part. and i thought, 'why am i out there looking for directors?'—because you look at a list of directors, it's all boys. it certainly was when i started as a screenwriter. so i thought, 'i'm just gonna become a director and that'll make it easier.'

That was the funniest thing i'd heard in days. you're kidding, right? please tell me you have a stronger motive for me than 'fair is fair.' life isn't fair, dean....nothing is fair, ever. that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard. i need to help you because fair is fair? try, 'i need you to help me so i won't rip out your spine and beat you with it.' i might respond to that. maybe.
