Work - get paid; don't work - don't get paid. everybody is on commission, .. try not coming to work for six weeks. work gets paid; don't work, don't get paid. when they earn those dollars, and when you're 4, and you clean up your room, it really means mom cleaned up the room and you did two toys. when you're 14, it means you cleaned up your room. but still, we got the money caused by work, and then, we have teachable moments on how to handle the money they earn.

I think people forget that when people lose medicaid coverage, they still show up at the hospital when they have a chronic illness or a traumatic impact on their health. and those bills are paid by the hospital who then passes those costs on. they do not have a magic fairy paying the bills for people who show up without insurance. those bills are passed on to all the people in our country that do have insurance. that's why this bill is not going to break the cycle of higher premiums - because we're going to have fewer people insured.

I was neurotic for years. i was anxious and depressed and selfish. everyone kept telling me to change. i resented them and i agreed with them, and i wanted to change, but simply couldn't, no matter how hard i tried. then one day someone said to me, don't change. i love you just as you are. those words were music to my ears: don't change, don't change. don't change . . . i love you as you are. i relaxed. i came alive. and suddenly i changed!

More women are working because they have to, that's what it takes to put the food on the table and pay the rent. and yet we have not changed our policies to support the family. the right wing goes to the floor, and they did when they were in power, and talk about family values. well, where are they? family values is support for child care. family values is equal pay for equal work so that women are paid appropriately.

I will continue to fight for legislation that forces congress to read the bills! i will fight for a vote on my bill that calls for a waiting period for each page of legislation. i will continue to object when congress sticks special interest riders on bills in the dead of night! and if congress refuses to obey its own rules, if congress refuses to pass a budget, if congress refuses to read the bills, then i say: sweep the place clean. limit their terms and send them home!
