I feel like being an actor it is a great way to do your job and be a parent, because you have a lot of freedom. you have a job and then the job ends and than maybe you don't have another job for a while or maybe you chose not have another job for a while. for an actor, it's like maybe you don't see your kid for two weeks while you are filming but then you might have three months off where you are at home every day and picking him up from school. i find it's a great thing.

If you don't have the good fortune to work a lot then you take any job you get offered, whether it's a good job, fun job, a bad job, horrible job, whatever, you just take what you need to take. but i'm lucky in that - at the moment anyway and hopefully forever, but who knows - i get the chance to pick jobs for the kick of it and the fun.

There is what might be called a catch-22 of hazardous occupations: the more hazardous the job, the more men; the more men, the less we care about making the job safer. the catch-22 of hazardous occupations creates a 'glass cellar' which few women wish to enter. women are alienated not just out of the fear of being hurt on the job, but by an atmosphere that can make a hazardous job more hazardous than it needs to be.

Involve yourself every day. work hard and figure out how to love acting all day, every day. it's getting into a made-up situation and making it good and making it real and just playing, just practicing and playing. like the musicians that i played piano with: they never expect to be rich or famous, but they, for the sheer joy of it, play every day, all day.

Leadership has to be focused on some very radical ideas that only we as 21st century people can talk about: making sure people have a livelihood, making sure people receive a living wage, making sure the environment, the mother earth, is embraced and cherished and not destroyed. making sure people are healthy in what they eat, making sure we hold people and corporations accountable for the damage they do not only to our environment but to our institutions.

There is no longer one way to consume tv. some shows you want to watch live, some shows you only discover through streaming, some shows you just feel you need to dvr.
