If people don't know their pastor, it's easy to put the pastor on a pedestal and depersonalize him or her. it's also easy for pastors, who don't know their congregations, simply to classify congregants as saved or unsaved, involved or not involved, tithers or non-tithers.

If churches would take ownership of a vision, the next pastor who is thinking about coming to that church can see what their vision is and then determine if their vision fits with his or her ministry. if it doesn't, then it would be wrong for that pastor to come to that church.

I co-pastor now, so i preach six months, then another guy preaches six months. so that's really why i'm preparing for january, because i'll finish in june; then i'll be writing and doing other projects for the rest of the year.

We're headed for what is called type 1 civilization, planetary civilization. type 2 would be stellar civilization, like star trek. type 3 civilization would be galactic, like star wars. we are type 0. we get our energy from dead plants, oil and coal. but the question is: will we make it? will we make the transition from type 0 to type 1? it's not clear.
