We always have the movies that are more toward real life, but they don't have that much drama or suspense, or we have the full of drama or suspense, but they're far away from real life. always when i was watching a film, films with good drama, i was thinking, "i wish they were more close to real life." but when i was watching real life films i was thinking, "well i wish it had more drama." i've tried, in the movies that i worked so far, to get these two things closer and closer to each other.

I've made a way to allow myself to do big films, small films, dramas, comedies, action films, horror films, or whatever interests me, as a movie-goer. i like watching myself in movies. i want to choose movies that allow me to enjoy myself, the way that i want to entertain myself.

There are those of us who are always about to live. we are waiting until things change, until there is more time, until we are less tired, until we get a promotion, until we settle down / until, until, until. it always seems as if there is some major event that must occur in our lives before we begin living.

The financial crisis just made the hole deeper, which is why our stimulus needs to be both big and smart, both financially and educationally stimulating. it needs to be able to produce not only more shovel-ready jobs and shovel-ready workers, but more google-ready jobs and windows-ready and knowledge-ready workers.

A lot of people just go to movies that feed into their preexisting and not so noble needs and desires: they just go to action pictures, and things like that. but if you go to foreign films, if you go to documentaries, if you go to independent films, if you go to good films, you will become a better person because you will understand human nature better. movies record human nature in a better way than any other art form, that's for sure.

I don't feel that way now. i don't want to make movies for the 10 people who feel exactly the same way about the world that i do. i want to make movies that many, many people see, and i want to say something that i believe is important in a way that people who don't agree with me can hear. and that involves making different kinds of choices, but it's not like a compromise that i'm making. it's that something else interests me, something else is appealing to me.
