As for the various kinds of montage photography, they are in reality not photography at all but a kind of painting in which photography is used - as pastiches of textiles are used in crazy-quilts - to form a mosaic. whatever value the montage may have derives from painting rather than the camera.

The cliché i tried to avoid was i hated "teenage sidekicks." i always figured if i were a superhero, there's no way on god's earth that i'm gonna pal around with some teenager. so my publisher insisted i have a teenager in the series, because they always felt teenagers won't read the books unless there's a teenager in the story; which is nonsense.

You have to take in the whole picture, and ask, "what is it you want? what kind of world do you want?" so, i have drawings of different cities. those cities have an end goal; they're not just cities. the end goal of those cities is to make things relevant to people that they respond to. there's no other way.
