A new kind of award has been added -- the deathbed award. it is not an award of any kind. either the recipient has not acted at all, or was not nominated, or did not win the award the last few times around. it is intended to relieve the guilty conscience of the academy members and save face in front of the public. the academy has the horrible taste to have a star, choking with emotion, present this deathbed award so that there can be no doubt in anybody's mind why the award is so hurriedly given. lucky is the actor who is too sick to watch the proceedings on television.

It'd be negligent to say that i don't want to be at the top of the charts. of course i do, it's proof that your song is being heard. but i think it's more about the work for me and being proud of what i'm doing in music than what people think about my music. i want to like my music before you like it. i don't want to sell anything that i don't really like. i don't want to sell myself short just to get to the top of the charts. it doesn't feel that great. feeling proud of your work feels greater than being at the top of the charts.

I find the fact that so few people buy albums to be strangely emancipating. there's absolutely no reason for 99% of musicians making albums to think about actually selling albums. so as a musician you can just make an album for the love of making albums.

I'm not going to lie. i check the itunes charts. it's all about the itunes charts. i only go on the internet for the itunes charts and basketball blogs.

All you do as a performer is keep doing it. if you keep doing it, then it depends on why you're doing it. if you're doing something for superficial, monumental reasons and if you're doing it for female attention, or if you're doing it for money, it's like being upset. only way you can get upset is when you expecting something. if you don't get this award or don't get that award, that because you expect something.
