It's the difference between hunting a lion and hunting a deer. if someone hunts a lion, it's like: "wow, they're brave!" but if they're hunting a deer it's like: "that poor deer!" i know that. i know that guys getting killed is horrible but people have seen it before. you've seen the evil dead. with girls, it's like: "i don't want to see that happening..." i know that.

Lions cannot afford to hunt mice because they literally will starve to death, even if they catch them. lions and all large carnivores have to hunt game large enough to justify the investment, so they have to hunt antelope and zebra. why is this important? because most senior executives are really big on chipmunks.

I now suspect that just as a deer herd lives in mortal fear of its wolves, so does a mountain live in mortal fear of its deer. and perhaps with better cause, for while a buck pulled down by wolves can be replaced in two or three years, a range pulled down by too many deer may fail of replacement in as many decades.

It's easier making a smaller film like el mariachi. there are no budget worries because there is no budget. there is no crew problem because there is no crew. and if you screw up, no one is around to see you screw up -- so it's no longer a screw up.

I talk very slow. i move very slow. i definitely have that southern drawl and although i never necessarily participated in the activities that go along with screw. i definitely was a huge fan of screw. because melodically, i don't ever really sing very staccato or very fast. it's really about a groove; it's really about a vibe.
