How wonderful it is that we believe in modern revelation. i cannot get over the feeling that if revelation were needed anciently, when life was simple, that revelation is also needed today, when life is complex. there never was a time in the history of the earth when men needed revelation more than they need it now.

I believe in revelation, but not in revelation which each religion claims to possess, but in the living revelation which surrounds us on every side - mighty, eternal, unceasing, incorruptible, clear, distinct, universal as is the being from whom it proceeds, in that revelation which speaks to us and penetrates us from the moment we are born until we die.

The truth is that man is one individual with two aspects, just like one line with two ends. if you look at the ends, it is two. if you look at the line, it is one. one end of the line is limited, the other end of the line is unlimited. one end is man, the other end is god.

What you don't see on television is people dying today because they can't get to a doctor and they can't afford prescription drugs. that's why they are also dying. they are dying in iraq because they are poor and they have gone into the military because they can't afford to go to college. they're dying because they're living in communities where asthma rates are extremely high because the air is filthy. the suffering of the poor and working class people is a virtual nonissue for the media. but that is the reality.

I am sorry to have to introduce the subject of christmas. it is an indecent subject; a cruel, gluttonous subject; a drunken, disorderly subject; a wasteful, disastrous subject; a wicked, cadging, lying, filthy, blasphemous and demoralizing subject. christmas is forced on a reluctant and disgusted nation by the shopkeepers and the press: on its own merits it would wither and shrivel in the fiery breath of universal hatred; and anyone who looked back to it would be turned into a pillar of greasy sausages.

Revelation is necessarily limited to the first communication- after that it is only an account of something which that person says was a revelation made to him; and though he may find himself obliged to believe it, it can not be incumbent on me to believe it in the same manner; for it was not a revelation made to me, and i have only his word for it that it was made to him.
