Our lack of community is intensely painful. a tv talk show is not community. a couple of hours in a church pew each sabbath is not community. a multinational corporation is neither a human nor a community, and in the sweatshops, defiled agribusiness fields, genetic mutation labs, ecological dead zones, the inhumanity is showing. without genuine spiritual community, life becomes a struggle so lonely and grim that even hillary clinton has admitted "it takes a village".

So often, we blame other people when, really, the problem is right down in here. i'm not happy. i don't know what's wrong. if i just had another job, i could be happy. if i just get married, i would be happy. well if i just wasn't married, i would be happy. well, if i just had some kids, i'll be happy. i'll be happy when these kids finally grow up and get out of here. if i had a bigger house, i would be happy. well, i got a big house. now if i just had a maid to clean, i'd be happy. well, now if i just had a maid i could get along with better, i'd be happy.

Success for me is to feel happy - 80 percent of the time. that's been my goal in life. i think that comes from my father. he's a very optimistic, happy person. i'm not quite sure if i'll ever feel this, but i want to know how to be happy. i'm happy when i'm at work. i'm happy when i'm with my family or my dog. but there's always that feeling of, i'm not satisfied. i have that thing in my stomach where i just need to keep striving for things. in my mind, i want the fairy tale.

As i get, i give. giving as you get is critical. it has everything to do with being happy for yourself, and making others happy is the cause of making yourself happy, and it’s the cycle of giving and getting.
