24h in Folkestone: Shoreline, Rocksalt and a controversial renaissance plan

Our time exploring Folkestone was an virtually fixed stream of foods and drinks. Within the afternoon we wandered 10 minutes from Shoreline, alongside the boardwalk in direction of the Folkestone Harbour Line, and first grabbed some scrumptious tacos from The Taco Shed. The subsequent cease was Chummys, a preferred seafood bar within the harbour, buzzy and busy with an infinite queue of individuals wanting something from a little bit pot of prawns to a contemporary scallop and bacon bap, candy and salty and a little bit bit spicy from a splash of chilli vinegar. Then, regardless that it was a heavy gray sky and blustery climate, we couldn’t resist sitting within the backyard of The Pilot Bar, a seaside bar in a transport container, constructed on the footprint of the city’s previous pilot station. Deckchairs, bumper automobiles from previous fairground rides, palm timber – and beloved it. Subsequent door to this bar is Little Rock, in one other transport container, the sister to Rocksalt, and previously a part of chef Mark Sargeant’s empire. Rocksalt was the place we headed for supper, an early doorways meal the place the kids couldn’t have been higher taken care of. Fantastically contemporary fish in crispy batter with peas and mash for them; scallops with crispy black pudding and chargrilled corn adopted by roast skate wing, and a cod with chowder and leek powder for the adults.
