This year’s Perseids come on the heels of a go to from Comet Neowise, one of many brightest house snowballs in a long time. The annual shooting-star present has additionally been accompanied this 12 months by 5 seen planets in August (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) and the occasional look of a SpaceX Starlink satellite tv for pc practice.

French Photographer Yann Sainty went out forward of the Perseids’ peak and pointed a digicam skyward for over six hours to create this remarkable time-lapse, which condenses the expertise of staying up late with the bathe. Watch carefully for a number of streaking meteors within the first 10 seconds.
