People get sick and sometimes they get better and sometimes they don't. and it doesn't matter if the sickness is cancer or if it's depression. sometimes the drugs work and sometimes they don't. sometimes the drugs work for a while and then they stop. sometimes the alternative stuff works and sometimes it doesn't. and sometimes you wonder if no outside interference makes any difference at all; if an illness is like a storm, if it simply has to run its course and, at the end of it, depending on how robust you are, you will be alive. or you will be dead.

You want to make a little money, and sometimes you want to play some really great parts. sometimes they don't always coincide, or co-exist. sometimes you've got to do good parts for no money and... you know, i sometimes can't do movies just for the money. i really can't. i mean, i've tried. believe me, i'd love to just take the money and run. that might just be part of the equation, but there has to be something there. you have to be somewhat creatively satisfied.

I want to see all the countries in the world and learn all the languages. i want to have thousands of friends and i want all my friends to be different. i want to play six instruments. i want to be the best in the world at two things. i want to be a great athlete and i want to be a great surgeon. i need to practice very hard every day. i need to sleep as little as possible. i need to read at least one major book every week. and i need to remember that my seventy years are going to go by too quickly.
