Yeah, i'm going to go back (after hitting his 500th home run, but commenting on reaching the 3,000 hit plateau) to my punch-and-judy days, hit the ball the other way, start bunting the ball a little bit.

Plateau experiencing can be achieved, learned, earned by long hard work.... a transient glimpse is certainly possible in the peak experiences which may, after all, come sometimes to anyone. but, so to speak, to take up residence on the high plateau .... that is another matter altogether. that tends to be a lifelong effort.

Do not get into a fight if you can possibly avoid it. if you get in, see it through. don't hit if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting, but never hit soft. don't hit at all if you can help it; don't hit a man if you can possibly avoid it; but if you do hit him, put him to sleep.

The success that comes from my books is not something i feel very comfortable with. past a certain point you have to accept the idea that the success is a lot to do with the timing and luck and that divorces you from it massively. there are aspects of it that i haven't got used to at all. but i've enjoyed some parts of it massively. it relates to the same reason i did a lot of backpacking partly for the experience it's something to tell my grandkids. it's a weird chain of events to have in your life.

If i hit you and you hit me and i hit you back and you hit me back and go on, you see, that goes on ad infinitum. it just never ends. somewhere somebody must have a little sense, and that's the strong person.

I'm always improving and i want to get better and never hit a plateau. i find it an amazing adventure.
