We hear in these days a great deal respecting rights--the rights of private judgment, the rights of labor, the rights of property, and the rights of man. rights are grand things, divine things in this world of god's; but the way in which we expound these rights, alas! seems to me to be the very incarnation of selfishness. i can see nothing very noble in a man who is forever going about calling for his own rights. alas! alas! for the man who feels nothing more grand in this wondrous, divine world than his own rights.

Our youth can not understand why society chooses to criminalize a behavior with so little visible ill effect or adverse social impact... these young people have jumped the fence and found no cliff. and the disrespect for the possession laws fosters a disrespect for laws and the system in general... on top of this is the distinct impression among the youth that some police may use the marihuana laws to arrest people they don't like for other reasons, whether it be their politics, their hair style or their ethnic background.

Why did i become a canadian citizen? not because i was rejecting being a u.s. citizen. at the time when i became a canadian citizen, you couldn't be a dual citizen. now you can. so i had to be one or the other. but the reason i became a canadian citizen was because it simply seemed so abnormal to me not to be able to vote.

Freedom! that was the thought that sung in her heart so that even though the future was so dim, it was iridescent like the mist over the river where the morning sun fell upon it. freedom! not only freedom from a bond that irked, and a companionship which depressed her; freedom, not only from the death which had threatened, but freedom from the love that had degraded her; freedom from all spiritual ties, the freedom of a disembodied spirit, and with freedom, courage , and a valiant unconcern for whatever was to come.

We have to judge politicians by their cumulative score. in one innings they make a great catch, in another they drop the ball. in one they score a home run, in another they strike out. but it is their cumulative batting average that we are interested in.

Relationship is action, is it not? action has meaning only in relationship; without understanding relationship, action on any level will only breed conflict. the understanding of relationship is infinitely more important than the search for any plan of action. the ideology, the pattern for action, prevents action. action based on ideology hinders the understanding of relationship between man and man.
