You need some insecurity if you're an actor. it keeps the pot boiling. i haven't yet started to think about retiring. i was shocked when i heard about paul newman retiring at age 82. most actors just fade away like old soldiers.

Writing isn't about making money, getting famous, getting dates, getting laid, or making friends. in the end, it's about enriching the lives of those who will read your work, and enriching your own life, as well. it's about getting up, getting well, and getting over. getting happy, okay? getting happy.

If you ask me how i want to be remembered, it is as a winner. you know what a winner is? a winner is somebody who has given his best effort, who has tried the hardest they possibly can, who has utilized every ounce of energy and strength within them to accomplish something.

I figure if i keep my health, i have no intention of retiring. i love to work. i want to be like bob hope. i want to keep on going out and doing what i love to do. of course, i'm no bob hope, but i mean that feeling that you never are old and have things to offer and can be useful to somebody. i always want to be useful, i have no intentions of retiring unless i should get sick or something should happen to my husband. other than that i'm going to work until i fall over.
