It's very bad to write a novel by act of will. i can do a book of nonfiction work that way - just sign the contract and do the book because, provided the topic has some meaning for me, i know i can do it. but a novel is different. a novel is more like falling in love. you don't say, 'i'm going to fall in love next tuesday, i'm going to begin my novel.' the novel has to come to you. it has to feel just like love.

I am a men's liberationist (or "masculist") when men's liberation is defined as equal opportunity and equal responsibility for both sexes. i am a feminist when feminism favors equal opportunities and responsibilities for both sexes. i oppose both movements when either says our sex is the oppressed sex, therefore, "we deserve rights." that's not gender liberation but gender entitlement. ultimately, i am in favor of neither a women's movement nor a men's movement but a gender transition movement.

We have a common enemy. we have this in common: we have a common oppressor, a common exploiter, and a common discriminator. but once we all realize that we have this common enemy, then we unite on the basis of what we have in common. and what we have foremost in common is that enemy - the white man. he's an enemy to all of us. i know some of you all think that some of them aren't enemies. time will tell.

The gods can either take away evil from the world and will not, or, being willing to do so, cannot; or they neither can nor will, or lastly, they are both able and willing. if they have the will to remove evil and cannot, then they are not omnipotent. if they can, but will not, than they are not benevolent. if they are neither able nor willing, then they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent. lastly, if they are both able and willing to annihilate evil, how does it exist?
