I'm even stunned at some of the majors you can get in college these days. like you can major in the mating habits of the australian rabbit bat, major in leisure studies... okay, get a journalism major. okay, education major, journalism major. right. philosophy major, right. archeology major. i don't know, whatever it is. major in ballroom dance, of course. it doesn't replace work. how about a major in film studies? how about a major in black studies? how about a major in women studies? how about a major in home ec? oops, sorry! no such thing.

I had to audition for fandango. when i read the script, the role that was interesting - so everyone thought - was the role that costner played. he was the cool guy. and i read the script, and my representation at the time said, "that's the role you should read for." and i was like, "really? how about i read for this other role." and they went, "well, you're not going to get that role."

Whenever i play a role, whether it's good or bad, an evil person or nice person, i believe in being a purist and going all the way with the role. if i'm going to be a villainous wrestler, i believe in going all the way with it and not breaking character and not giving away to the audience that i'm playing a role. i believe in playing it straight to the hilt.

Burmese authors and artists can play the role that artists everywhere play. they help to mold the outlook of a society - not the whole outlook and they are not the only ones to mold the outlook of society, but they have an important role to play there. and i think if they take up this role seriously and link it to the kind of changes were wish to bring about in our country they could be a tremendous help.

Every moment is as real as every other. every 'now,' when you say, 'this is the real moment,' is as real as every other 'now' - and therefore all the moments are just out there. just as every location in space is out there, i think every moment in time is out there, too.
