I'm not offended. lenny bruce taught me that everything's funny. you can make everything funny. i don't think that assassinations are funny, i don't think you can make fun of isis, but almost everything is funny. and if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? so i don't mind ethnic humor. i like ethnic humor. i like dialect jokes. laughter is a very subjective thing. if it's funny to you it's funny. and a lot of things are funny to me.

Safety lies in catering to the in-group. we are not all brave. all i would ask of writers who find it hard to question the universal validity of their personal opinions and affiliations is that they consider this: every group we belong to - by gender, sex, race, religion, age - is an in-group, surrounded by an immense out-group, living next door and all over the world, who will be alive as far into the future as humanity has a future. that out-group is called other people. it is for them that we write.

It is better for a woman to compete impersonally in society, as men do, than to compete for dominance in her own home with her husband, compete with her neighbors for empty status, and so smother her son that he cannot compete at all.

We haven't been leading anybody. we've been acquiescing to a bunch of linguini-spined leftists all over the world, at the united nations, in nato, wherever it is. the people who don't even pay for their own defense. the people that don't even believe in guns and bullets to protect yourself are the people we have been acquiescing to. and they think this is called leadership. leadership is sponsoring america's decline. leadership is administering america's decline. leadership is admitting that america's superpower status was never deserved or warranted.
