Reality became for me a problem after my experience with lsd. before, i had believed there was only one reality, the reality of everyday life. just one true reality and the rest was imagination and was not real. but under the influence of lsd, i entered into realities which were as real and even more real than the one of everyday. and i thought about the nature of reality and i got some deeper insights.

Iran should not be denied the human right to knowledge...the fear of america is iran's attitude to israel, and the cornerstone of america's foreign policy is the protection of israel... if iran believes in allah, and if iran believes in the power of allah, iran can't be frightened by america.

Maybe each human being lives in a unique world, a private world different from those inhabited and experienced by all other humans. . . if reality differs from person to person, can we speak of reality singular, or shouldn't we really be talking about plural realities? and if there are plural realities, are some more true (more real) than others?

I do not make films which are prescriptive, and i do not make films that are conclusive. you do not walk out of my films with a clear feeling about what is right and wrong. they're ambivalent. you walk away with work to do. my films are a sort of investigation. they ask questions . . .. sometimes i hear that some [hollywood] studio is interested in me. then they discover that this is the guy who works with no script, that there is no casting discussion, no interference, that i have the final cut, and that does it.

If kubrick had lived to see the opening of his final film, he obviously would have been disappointed by the hostile reactions. but i'm sure that in the end he would have taken it with a grain of salt and moved on. that's the lot of all true visionaries, who don't see the use of working in the same vein as everyone else. artists like kubrick have minds expansive and dynamic enough to picture the world in motion, to comprehend not just where its been, but where it's going.

I believe in sensuality. i believe in sex. i believe in the survival of the species. i like aspects of things that are ethereal, but i like the reality of nature and embracing the way nature works, and aspects of interrelationships between male-female, aspects of the body, the way the body has changed over thousands of years . . .
