Thanks to nbc news and thanks to the nbc primetime tv network, donald trump has been in living rooms for 11 years being who he is. the donald trump running for president is not an unknown quantity. the donald trump running for president is the donald trump everybody's gotten to know, and quite a lot of people watch those donald trump tv shows, the apprentice and whatever else on there.

Donald trump has no design to transform america. donald trump doesn't think america is second-rate. donald trump doesn't think america's guilty. donald trump doesn't think america owes people things. donald trump doesn't think that the borders are to be wide open so that anybody who wants here can come here because we've screwed them at some time in the past.

Here you have the republican party, and they had, what, 16, 15 candidates seek the republican nomination? and donald trump won it. and they have been enraged actually since day one when trump announced, and his statement did not result in a trump implosion, and then future trump statements and appearances did not result in a trump implosion. but the candidates that the republican party...they thought they had the best presidential field ever, and they hated and resented trump for that.

People hear from donald trump that he's such an extraordinary success. they didn't know about trump airlines and trump mortgages and trump vitamin network and trump steaks and trump taj mahal. they didn't realize a lot of small people have been crushed by donald trump's rise to become a very wealthy man, successful financially, but this is a guy who has not been a uniform success.

The republicans don't want donald trump to define the republican party agenda. they are very loyal. they owe a lot to their donors. the donors hate trump. the chamber of commerce hates trump. all of these people that the republicans think they can't get elected without don't like trump. so it has been a stonewall. this behavior by the house and senate republican leadership isn't anything new. all you had to do was to listen what they were saying during the campaign.

We know that a government shutdown is gonna blamed on the republicans no matter who, what, when, where, why. you want to give the media ammo going into 2018, how the republicans hate government, the republicans hate you, the republicans want you dead, the republicans want your kids dead, the republicans want you breathing dirty air, poisoned water, and all this stuff, a shutdown in september, it would actually be in october, because that's - i don't mean to pick hairs here, but a shutdown would be in october if it happens.
