Well people love to go dirty and stuff like that. it's funny, because even really dirty things can kind of inspire, but all things inspire really dirty improv and monologues. so then really dirty things can inspire the exact opposite. it's kind of a crapshoot.

There is this concept of politics as a dirty game. it's a difficult game, but it doesn't have to be dirty. i think this is what we need to bring to politics. i think politics around the world has very often been captured by big interests - 'lobbies' they call them in the states.

I don't watch a lot of featherweight fights yet some of those fights are the best fights ever.

People always ask me if i hate the nuns. do i make my movies extra dirty to piss them off? i always say no, that's not the point. to a catholic, a movie is only dirty if it makes you want to have sex more. if it makes you feel sick, disgusted, ashamed of your own body, then it's not a dirty movie at all. it's a catholic movie. and i make very catholic movies.

I don't see sarah palin suddenly spilling over to a wider group where suddenly they go, "wait a minute, i've heard her message, and now i'm beginning..." it's not expanding it. a politician that doesn't expand from the base is not a good politician. so i disagree with all the talking heads that go "well, she's a very good politician." she's not! good politicians expand, and she doesn't.
