If we're having a glitzy over-the-top moment, fashion is very glitzy and over-the-top, you know, over-the-top. if we're having a moment where things are, you know, we're in a recession, fashion becomes quiet. so, in terms of popular culture, fashion and especially women's fashion is incredibly interesting, aside from satisfying just a particular need to create and arrange things in a way that one sees as beautiful. and so, in a certain way, it's fulfilling. in another way, it's very fleeting because it doesn't last very long. you know, a beautiful moment in fashion goes away very quickly.

People are first and foremost republicans, first and foremost anarchists, first and foremost a man or woman, and that is a mistake. it hurts the individual and it hurts the whole.

I love fashion because it's plugged into the zeitgeist, so it's always changing. thirty years ago, i could never have predicted i'd be where i am today, so i know i don't know what's going to happen in the next five years or the next 20 years. i have my predictions—i'm sure technology will continue to have an impact on fashion, particularly the way people shop. i think quality will be increasingly important—we're moving away from a time of fast fashion. but really, the only constant in fashion is that you must keep moving forward, otherwise you'll be left behind.

So often, we blame other people when, really, the problem is right down in here. i'm not happy. i don't know what's wrong. if i just had another job, i could be happy. if i just get married, i would be happy. well if i just wasn't married, i would be happy. well, if i just had some kids, i'll be happy. i'll be happy when these kids finally grow up and get out of here. if i had a bigger house, i would be happy. well, i got a big house. now if i just had a maid to clean, i'd be happy. well, now if i just had a maid i could get along with better, i'd be happy.

See... relationships are hard, man. for order, for any relationship to work, both people have to be on the same page, both people have to have the same focus, and we all know what that page is. we all know what that focus is. in order for the relationship to work both people have to have the same focus, and what's that focus? that focus is all about her! it's all about her!

Fashion is fun, and fashion is a form of art and self-expression. and i think it should have a wink-wink nature to it. for me, it's about the way it makes you feel. if you want to feel sexy, you want to feel bright, you want to feel good. that's what people are attracted to - when they see you execute an emotion or an idea clearly and proudly.
