Boredom is useful to me when i notice it and think: oh i'm bored; there must be something else i want to be doing... boredom acts as an initiator of originality by pushing me into new activities or new thoughts.

So when somebody asks me to make a decision about a situation, i don't offer a solution, i ask a question: what are our options? give me the good, give me the bad, give me the pretty, give me the ugly, give me the impossible, give me the possible, give me the convenient, give me the inconvenient. give me the options. all i want are options. and once i have all the options before me, then i comfortably and confidently make my decision.

One of the delights beyond the grasp of youth is that of not going. not to have an invitation for the dance, the party, the picnic, the excursion is to be diminished. to have an invitation and then not to be able to go -- oh cursed spite! now i do not care the rottenest fig whether i receive an invitation or not. after years of illusion, i finally decided i was missing nothing by not going. i no longer care whether i am missing anything or not.
